Accessibility Statement

Pepys turns audio and video into text, so accessibility is part of what the product is for. We want the Pepys website and app to work for people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control, magnification, or captions.
This statement says where we are, what we are working toward, and how to reach us when something does not work for you.
1. Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, across pepys.co and the Pepys app.
We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit, so we do not claim full conformance. We will publish audit results here when we have them.
2. Transcripts, captions and accuracy
Pepys produces machine-generated transcripts. They are fast and useful, but they contain errors, and accuracy is lower on noisy audio, overlapping speakers, heavy accents, and specialist vocabulary. If you rely on a transcript or subtitle file for access, for example as captions for a Deaf or hard-of-hearing audience, read it through and correct it before you publish it. Pepys does not provide certified or human-verified captions.
You can export transcripts as TXT, Markdown, DOCX, PDF, JSON, and as SRT or VTT caption files, so you can use the format your own tools and assistive technology work with.
3. Known limitations
Some parts of the app, such as the transcript editor and the audio player, are complex interfaces, and we have not yet verified that every interaction works fully with every screen reader, keyboard-only navigation, and voice-control tool. We treat any gap you report as a bug.
4. Tell us about a problem
If you cannot use part of Pepys, or you need something in another format, email us at contact@pepys.co. Tell us the page or feature, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use if you know it. We aim to reply within five business days and to tell you what we can do and by when.
