Pepys is available in Claude's Connectors Directory and as a hosted MCP server. After one OAuth sign-in, Claude can submit supported files and public links for transcription, check job status, search hours-long transcripts, retrieve speaker-separated passages, and export the result without placing the entire recording in Claude's context window.

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and browse the connector directory.

Search for Pepys and choose Add. Claude opens Pepys for an OAuth sign-in and consent.

Structured, citable output
Return speaker-separated, timestamped transcript segments, search matches, caption exports, and the job status the assistant needs to continue its workflow.
Files, public links, and podcast feeds
Submit supported audio or video, a public media link, or a podcast feed. Pepys handles the asynchronous transcription job and preserves the source context.
Privacy and access
Claude receives the MCP tool results needed for the request. Pepys does not train models on your audio, and you can revoke the OAuth connection from Pepys settings.

The hosted connector uses the same Pepys balance as the web app. Signup minutes apply, then transcription is metered against credits; there is no separate connector fee.

Is Pepys an official Claude connector?
Pepys is listed in Claude's Connectors Directory. You can also add the hosted MCP endpoint directly if your Claude plan exposes custom connectors.
Does Claude need the whole transcript in its context window?
No. Pepys keeps and indexes the transcript, and Claude can search it and retrieve the relevant timestamped passages.
Do I need a Pepys API key?
Not for the hosted Claude connector. It uses OAuth. API keys are for the local MCP server or REST API.
