How fast do you type?
Type a short passage, get your words per minute and accuracy, and share the result.
The clock starts with your first key and stops at the last character.
How it works
Pick a passage and start typing. The clock starts with your first key and stops when you reach the last character. Your speed counts correct characters only, five to a word, so a fast run full of mistakes scores lower than a clean one. Accuracy is the share of characters that match the passage.
Pasting and dropping text are switched off, and a sudden burst of many characters voids the run. A run under 8 seconds does not count, and the speed shown is capped at 200 words per minute. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
Questions
What counts as a word?
Five characters, spaces included. That is the usual convention for typing tests, so results are comparable with other tests that use it.
Why was my run rejected?
A run is rejected if it looks pasted or dropped in, if a lot of text arrives at once, or if you finish in under 8 seconds. Type the passage out at your normal pace and it will count.
Is anything saved or sent?
No. The test runs in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded. Sharing makes a link that contains only your score and accuracy.
