A free account takes a minute and comes with 60 minutes of transcription – no card, no subscription.

In short

Creating a Pepys account is free and takes a minute: sign up with email and password, with Google, or with Microsoft. Signup grants 60 minutes of transcription, one time, and credits never expire. No card is required, there is no subscription, and transcription needs an account before a job can start.

What an account gets you

An account is what a transcript is saved to. It holds your jobs and their exports, it carries the credit balance that pays for transcription, and it is where the integrations live – Google Drive and OneDrive, Zoom, the Telegram bot, and the API keys for programmatic access.

Creating one is free and grants 60 minutes of transcription. That grant is one-time and it never expires, so there is no deadline to use it by.

Ways to sign up

Sign in and sign up live in the same dialog. Use an email address and a password, or continue with Google or Microsoft if you would rather not keep another password.

There is also a passwordless route: enter your email address and Pepys sends a one-time sign-in link. Following that link signs you in without a password.

Depending on how the account was created, you may be asked to confirm your email address before your first sign-in. Open the link in that message and carry on where you left off.

After you sign up

Your 60 minutes are already on the balance, so the next step is simply to transcribe something – see your first transcription.

Nothing is charged and no card is stored. When the free minutes run out, you buy credits as you need them rather than paying a subscription; credits and free minutes explains how that works.

Can I sign up with Google or Microsoft?

Yes. The sign-in dialog offers Google and Microsoft alongside email and password, and there is a passwordless emailed sign-in link as well.

Can I transcribe something without an account?

Transcription needs an account, so Pepys asks you to create one – free, no card – before the job starts. Signup takes a minute and the 60 free minutes are applied immediately.

Do the free minutes expire?

No. Credits never expire, including the 60 minutes granted at signup.
