Transcribe recordings from OneDrive

Connect Microsoft OneDrive once, then transcribe a recording from the cloud, including files shared with you from SharePoint.

In short

Connect OneDrive in Settings → Integrations through Microsoft's OAuth flow, then browse your files in the uploader or paste a OneDrive sharing link. Pepys downloads the media itself and transcribes it. Free accounts can import three files, one at a time; any credit purchase unlocks unlimited imports, up to 10 files at once, and automatic folder imports.

What the OneDrive connection does

OneDrive is the second cloud storage source Pepys reads from, alongside Google Drive. Connect it once and Pepys can fetch a recording out of Microsoft's cloud directly, so a file that is already up there does not need to come down to your desktop and go back up again.

The connection uses Microsoft Graph with three permissions: Files.Read to read the files you pick, User.Read to identify the account, and offline_access so Pepys can refresh its own access without asking you to sign in again. Credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored.

Connect OneDrive in Settings

Open Settings → Integrations and press Connect OneDrive, then approve the Microsoft consent screen for the account that holds your recordings. The row shows the connected account, and the connection stays live until you disconnect it or the Microsoft grant is revoked.

If Microsoft invalidates the tokens – after a password change, for instance – the row asks you to reconnect and folder automation pauses instead of failing quietly.

Import from a sharing link

Paste a OneDrive or SharePoint sharing link into the uploader and Pepys resolves it. Links from 1drv.ms, onedrive.live.com, and SharePoint sites (including the ones Outlook adds to an invitation) are recognised, so a recording somebody sent you can go straight to a transcript without chasing the file.

Microsoft's share links carry the access grant with them, so this path works with the link alone. If Pepys is not connected to OneDrive yet, it connects first and then runs the import.

Browse and pick files

Press the OneDrive button in the uploader to browse your folders and pick a recording. A paid account can select up to 10 files at once and each becomes its own transcription; a free account imports one file at a time.

The first three connected-source imports are free on any account. After that, the uploader asks you to buy credits before importing more – imports share the same pool as Drive, so the three are counted across both.

Automatic folder imports

Automatic folder imports unlock with any credit purchase. Choose a folder in Settings → Integrations and Pepys queues new recordings as they appear in it, with an optional speaker-labels switch for the incoming jobs. You can pause the folder from the same row whenever you want to take back manual control.

Good to know

OneDrive imports are billed per minute against your credits, exactly like an uploaded file: 1 credit = 1 minute, and credits never expire. See credits and free minutes for how the balance works.

Finished transcripts come with speaker labels, AI summary, and exports in TXT, Markdown, DOCX, PDF, SRT, VTT, and JSON.

Can Pepys read files shared with me from SharePoint?

Yes. Paste the OneDrive or SharePoint sharing link into the uploader and Pepys resolves it. Links from 1drv.ms, onedrive.live.com, and SharePoint sites are recognised.

What permissions does Pepys ask Microsoft for?

Files.Read, User.Read, and offline_access – enough to read the files you choose, identify the account, and refresh access without another sign-in. Nothing that manages your account or mail.

Is the free import allowance shared with Google Drive?

Yes. Free accounts get three connected-source imports in total, counted across Drive, OneDrive, and Zoom together, one file at a time.

How many files can I import at once?

Up to 10 on a paid account, each becoming its own transcription. Free accounts import one file at a time.

Can OneDrive folders be transcribed automatically?

Yes, with any credit purchase. Pick a folder in Settings → Integrations and new recordings in it are queued for transcription, with optional speaker labels, until you pause it.
