Subtitling Chinese is its own craft: lines have to break where the meaning breaks, not mid-word, and since the script runs with no spaces a clumsy tool will split 你好嗎 across two cues and read like nonsense. Pepys captions Mandarin (普通話 / 國語) and Cantonese (粤語), keeps cues at a comfortable reading length, and returns Simplified or Traditional characters as SRT or VTT files your player or editor can load straight away.
Tone makes it harder still – the wrong pitch becomes the wrong homophone, and on screen a single mistaken character is glaring. Pepys is built for that, and you can edit any cue before exporting.
