Which screen-recording formats work?

Does it read buttons, error messages, or other text shown on screen?
No. Pepys transcribes the spoken audio in the recording; it is not OCR and does not inspect the interface. Narrate the important steps and errors aloud if you want them captured in the transcript.
Can I use it for QA and software testing records?
Yes. A narrated smoke test or bug walkthrough becomes searchable text with timestamps, which is useful as supporting evidence or a handoff. Pepys does not detect bugs or generate test results on its own.
What can I export?

Is the recording private?
